THE PROJECT
HENOSIS (2026) is a video work that explores the concepts of union, fusion, and transformation. Its title, derived from the Greek word for “oneness,” evokes the idea of becoming one—not as a state of simple harmony, but as an unsettling process in which identity, nature, and matter contaminate one another until their boundaries begin to dissolve.
The imagery constructs a world suspended between fairy tale, living organism, and inner vision.
Enigmatic female figures inhabit surreal landscapes populated by fungi, biomorphic forms, nervous trees, and hybrid presences, where the body is never separate from its surroundings, but becomes an extension of them.
The recurring and vibrant red acts as a vital signal, a wound, an energy, and a bond.
In HENOSIS, everything seems to move towards an impossible communion: the fragile and the monstrous, the vegetal and the human, childhood and unease, play and ritual. The video thus unfolds within an ambiguous dimension, where beauty and disturbance coexist, and where metamorphosis becomes the language through which to interpret the present.
BIOGRAPHY
Valerio Calsolaro is an Italian visual artist whose practice explores the boundaries between the body, technology, memory, and transformation.
Through moving images, artificial intelligence, sound design, and digital experimentation, he creates suspended and unsettling universes in which technological language becomes a tool for investigating the emotional dimension and the contradictions of contemporary identity.
His work has been presented in exhibitions, showcases, and festivals in Italy and internationally, with a focus on digital arts, experimental cinema, and new visual languages. He is the winner of Ibrida Festival and the Vertical Movie Festival at Cinecittà, and has received recognition at international digital arts festivals, including a showcase in Sacramento, California.
In 2026, his project Demanufacture was selected and presented in Cannes as part of a section dedicated to Artificial Intelligence.
His practice emerges from the intersection of artistic sensitivity and technology, using AI not as an end in itself, but as an expressive medium: a space through which to generate new perceptions, alter reality, and question the relationship between the individual, the machine, and the contemporary world.
