THE PROJECT
ParaSights is a site-specific, interactive projection mapping environment that combines analog DIY projectors with digital video projectors to create a post-digital shadow play. Using collected organic materials such as plant fragments and dead insects, the work transforms tiny found objects into large-scale animated projections on architecture.
The installation responds to visitors through sensors including microphones and motion trackers, creating a diffuse and unpredictable form of interaction.
By merging historic analog projection techniques with contemporary digital imagery, ParaSights creates a tactile, immersive experience rooted in the physical world rather than purely digital illusion.
At its core, the work draws attention to overlooked urban flora and fauna, shifting focus between monumental façade projections and the fragile materials that generate them, a site-specific portrait of urban biodiversity, revealing the richness of life that usually remains invisible.
BIOGRAPHY
RaumZeitPiraten (Tobias Daemgen, Jan Ehlen, Moritz Ellerich) are a space and time bending artists group at the intersection of art and technology. Since 2007 they are misusing and remixing ancient and up-to-date auditive and visual technologies for heterogeneous, organically improvised light and sound architectures.
Their activities are aimed at playful, experimental connections of sound, image, object, space and time to an alternately-self-expanding-multimedia-performance-surround-spaceship-laboratory-travel to somewhere between science and fiction. They wander the globe with multidimensional environments, immersive light art, optoacoustic instruments, rhizomatic light sculptures and audiovisual performances.
