WORKSHOP FOR THE REALIZATION OF A LIGHT SCULPTURE IN ACCORDING TO THE TRADITION OF “LUMINARIE”

AIMS
The aim of the workshop is to develop a short practical training course aimed at studying the “Luminarie”, a public lighting system that has historically been used in some areas of southern Italy during the celebrations, and the creation of luminous sculptures inspired by them. The participants will give the authorization to the festival to install the light sculpture inside the exhibition called COLLECTIVE INSTALLATION.
Every creation will remain to the participants.
CONTENT
Creation of a light artefact.
This practical module will provide the basics of do-it-yourself and car- pentry, through the reuse of scraps from the production of local luminarie illuminations. A series of light artefacts will be created reusing scraps. The module will be divided in two parts. The first part will deal with the analysis of the materials and the design of the artefacts. The second part will practically focus on the techniques for reusing, reassembling and creating the light artefacts. This module will be taught by the experts and artists of Studio Sciolto makerspace.

REQUIREMENTS
Wood crafting skills are not required, but an aptitude for planning and graphic representation through sketches, drawings and 3D rendering is essential. As power tools will be used for wood crafting and creating the artefacts, the maximum reliability and attention are necessary to maintain the safety and security of the participants involved. render 3D.
